During the late 1950s and 1960s, surfing culture and lifestyle started to boom in the United States. But the majority of the big surf brands and surfboard makers were stationed on the West Coast. This didn’t sit well with some of the East Coast surfers.

In 1959, Ron Dimenna, founder of Ron Jon Surf Shop, became enamored with the sport of surfing. He took a trip to the West Coast in search of a surfboard. Since the demand for custom surfboards was so high on the East Coast, Ron’s father suggested bringing three boards back and selling two of them. Thus, the entrepreneurial spirit of Ron Dimenna was invigorated.

Since then, Ron Jon Surf Shop has been a world renowned name in surfing, beach fashion, and lifestyle. With locations all over the globe, Ron Jon Surf Shop all started right here in Cocoa Beach.
